The weather outside is frightful…

But the riding was delightful.  OK, the weather was actually very cold and icy, but not really frightful.  It just went well with the song!

Kelsey and I headed out for another ride yesterday.  I opted for the Redmond Watershed, as the trails there are really nicely groomed and almost always excellent.  I did leave the boys (Galen and Andy) barefoot, to help with traction.

It was a lovely, crisp, sunshiny day, but cold (for here)

Unfortunately, the trails were frozen solid and slick.  We were only able to trot very short distances safely.  All the bridges were icy, which was a little alarming, but the boys and Kelsey handled it really well.  I trust Galen on footing, so if he said ‘no trotting’, I believed him.  As it was pretty chilly out and we were only walking, we only stayed out about 1 1/2 hours.

On the plus side though, we were riding, it was lovely and Kelsey is more confident every ride.

Kelsey and Andy working on leg yielding.

I was really glad for my sheepskin saddle cover too.  Kelsey did mention that we really should bring some hot chocolate for after…yumm.
